How to Change Age on Tinder: Official Rules, ID Verification & Fixes

Diagram comparing profile-search methods and their limitations

Tinder does not let you edit your name or age after creating an account. Its published correction method is to delete the account and start again with accurate details. Before doing that, understand what happens to matches, messages, purchases and any subscription you want to keep.

Need to manage your own account? Start with Tinder's settings and help. Looking at someone else's possible profile instead? A ProfileFinder dating-profile search uses a first name, approximate age and city. Review the selected offer and verify possible matches; it does not prove why an age differs.

What Tinder says about a wrong age

The official wrong-age guidance says that name and age cannot be updated after account creation. For a correction, Tinder describes deleting the account and starting over. That is not the same as changing a photo or editing a biography.

Check the consequences before starting again

Account actions and their limits
ActionChanges the registered age?Important consequence
Edit the profile biographyNoA written correction does not change the registered birthday
Delete the account and start againEnter accurate details on the new accountTinder says matches, messages and consumable purchases are lost

Open Tinder, select the profile icon, open Settings and choose Delete account only if you understand the loss described by Tinder. Deleting an account is not a reversible profile edit. Tinder's guidance also describes restoring an eligible subscription to a new account; check the linked purchase-restoration instructions before proceeding.

Age verification and identity checks are different tasks

An age restriction or verification prompt should be handled through Tinder's official in-app or support flow. This guide does not promise an ID upload will correct a birthday, specify a provider, or guarantee a processing time. Never send identity documents to an unofficial profile-search service claiming to unlock Tinder settings.

Interpreting a different age in a search result

A different age can reflect incorrect registration, outdated information or a different person. It does not establish deliberate concealment. If a search form accepts an approximate age, consider that uncertainty rather than treating one exact value as an identity test. Confirm photographs, source context and other details independently. No result is inconclusive when the inputs or source coverage are incomplete.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I edit my birthday in Tinder settings in 2026?

Tinder's published guidance says name and age cannot be changed after account creation. It describes deleting the account and starting again with the correct details.

Will creating a new Tinder account keep my matches?

No. Tinder says deleting the account loses its matches, messages, consumable purchases and other associated information. Consider that before starting again.

Does Tinder Gold let me correct my age?

The official wrong-age guidance does not offer a paid exception to the restriction. Do not buy a subscription expecting it to unlock birthday editing.

Does ID verification guarantee a birthday correction?

No such guarantee is established by the wrong-age guidance cited here. Use the official instructions for your account and ask Tinder Support about an unresolved restriction.

Can I restore a paid plan after starting again?

Tinder says a subscription can be restored on a new account. Follow its official restoration instructions and check your billing method before making changes.

Does a different age prove a profile is fake in 2026?

No. A typo, old information or a different person can explain a mismatch. An age difference alone does not establish identity, current activity or deception.
